Matthew 5:14
Jesus Christ during his earthly ministry, in several instances, declared Himself as the light of the world. In John 8:12, the Bible says, “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
In John 9:5 Jesus Christ said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” Also, in John 12:46, He said, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”
From the Scriptures we have just considered above, it is obvious and we are also very much assured and convinced beyond every iota of doubt that Jesus Christ is the light of the world, and as the light of the world, He was making so much impacts as found in various portion of the Scripture.
Have you pause a little while and ask yourself, “Why was Jesus Christ talked in this manner? The answer is not far-fetched, it is simply because he has the authority to do so. Matthew 28:18 says “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me”(NLT)
Imagine, nobody ever talked like Jesus! In the world history, for those of us who are history students, we came across those who exhibited autocratic, despotic and military powers et certra , some claimed to be super powers, their reigns were short-lived and their government extinguished on the surface of the earth.
However, today, we can talk like Jesus Christ because the Bible says, “…as He is, so are we in this world” (1 John 4:17). He made us the light of the world— so luminous and radiant! From our anchored Scripture in Matthew 5:14, Jesus Christ says “Ye are the light of the world…..”.
From the various Scriptures we have read so far and as well been deeply encouraged, it behooves on us to light up the world, in other words, “light up your world”. The phrase, “your world” generally refers to the sum of an individual’s experiences, environment, relationship, and perspectives, encompassing the people, places, and things that are important to the person in reference.
Satan may prowl or roam around like a roaring lion, but he can’t run things because he’s darkness and we’re light. Light dispels darkness. Hallelujah!
With this, we are better appreciated on Jesus ‘powerful instruction in Matthew 5:16 when He said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Here, Jesus emphasized letting your light shine so brightly until others are inspired to glorify God because of you. Every day, glow with such radiance, brilliance and intensity that your life becomes a testament to God’s glory. In other words, make an impact with your life.
Usually, you would hear people with different excuses while others are complaining that they were not born with “the silver spoon” and for that reason, they are not able to make in life compare to their counterpart who are excelling in their diverse field of endeavours. I want to assure you that it makes no difference now that you are in Christ Jesus. What you have to do is to illuminate the world and showcase the God’s good works through His son, Jesus Christ.
What are these “good works”? They are the works or acts of God; the supernatural and the miraculous. You’re His voice and His hands to reach and bless others. This is the extraordinary life God has called us to live—a life of purpose, impact and influence for His glory, Amen!.
PRAYER
Dear Father, thank you for making me the light of the world. I commit to letting my light shine so brightly that men see my good works and glorify you. I demonstrate your nature and bring glory to your Name. Thank you for giving me a life of purpose, impact and influence, for your glory. I’m enthused by this reality, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
